Facilitator
Gary-Martin is an educator and facilitator who has spent over a decade moving between higher education, schools, and cultural institutions. He has lectured at the University of Gloucestershire for more than ten years, and served as Head of Education at pyka, leading the organisation's approach to pedagogy and arts facilitation.
His facilitation work began as a private music tutor while training for Qualified Teacher Status, after which he joined the pyka team delivering pyka_looper projects in schools and with cultural institutions.
As Head of Education, he was lead facilitator on 17 Lead Creative Schools projects (ACW), working with teachers across South Wales to devise creative projects that addressed cohort-specific curriculum priorities. He also facilitated pyka_hack projects, recruiting young people onto the pyka team to co-create public digital tools for clients including Shakespeare's Globe and Tate Britain.
Concluding a Creative Collaborations project (ACW) with a consortium of special schools in Cardiff, he developed ‘Passing the Power’, a guidebook on increasing access to creative expression in Additional Learning Needs settings.
Alongside organisational roles he has worked independently as a facilitator on digital art and sound ecology projects with young people and arts organisations.
